About Socii
What is Socii?
A private, encrypted space for your closest friends. You write longer thoughts, ask meaningful questions, keep notes about each other's lives, and plan to meet up. Not social media — no followers, no likes, no algorithm.
How is this different from WhatsApp or group chats?
Group chats are great for quick logistics and memes. But important conversations get buried, and there's no space for longer thoughts. Socii has separate spaces: The Page for writing, Questions for deeper conversations, Notes for remembering what matters, Gatherings for planning meetups. Each thing has its place.
Is this social media?
No. No public profiles. No followers. No feed algorithm. No viral mechanics. No likes or reactions (except in the memes space, and even then, just for fun). Your content goes to specific friends you choose, not to an audience.
Can I use this to meet new people?
No. Socii is for maintaining and deepening friendships you already have. There's no discovery, no “people you may know,” no matching. You invite your existing friends. That's it.
Privacy & Security
Is my content really private?
Yes. Everything you write is end-to-end encrypted. This means it's encrypted on your device before it's sent to our servers. We store ciphertext — encrypted data that we cannot read. Without your key, it's mathematical noise.
What can you see about me?
Your email address. Who you're connected to. Timestamps (when you posted, not what you posted). Storage usage. That's the metadata we need to make the app work. We can't see the contents of your posts, messages, notes, or anything else.
What if there's a data breach?
Attackers would get encrypted blobs. Without users' keys, which never leave their devices, that data is unreadable. This is the point of end-to-end encryption — the server being compromised doesn't compromise your content.
What about government requests?
We can only provide what we have: encrypted data and metadata. We can't provide decrypted content because we can't decrypt it. We're based in Europe and subject to GDPR protections.
Getting Started
How do I get access?
Two ways: get invited by someone already on Socii, or request access through our waitlist. We're invite-only to keep growth controlled and quality high.
What if my friends aren't interested?
This is the hard part. Socii only works if the people you care about use it too. Start with one or two friends who you think would actually value it — people who've said “we should catch up more.” Quality over quantity.
Can I try it before paying?
If someone invites you, you get free access with all features. You can invite 2 friends and use everything. The paid tier is for bringing in more people and creating groups.
Paying
Why does it cost money?
Free social products make money from ads, which means selling your attention and optimizing for engagement over wellbeing. We want different incentives: you pay us, we work for you. Simple.
What's the refund policy?
30 days, no questions asked. If you're not happy, email us and we'll refund you. We'd rather you try it risk-free.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
It stays. You keep access to everything you've created. You just lose the ability to invite new people or create new groups. You can export your data anytime. Delete means delete.
